The East Hants Karate Club is dedicated to promoting and preserving the practice of Chito-Ryu Karate following the policies & guidelines of the Canadian Chito Ryu Association.

The East Hants Karate Club is the Honbu dojo (provincial headquarters) for Chito-Ryu Karate in Nova Scotia.

"The ultimate aim
of Karate,

Lies not in victory
or defeat,

Chito Ryu was created by Dr. Tsuyoshi Chitose.  By combining two styles of Okinawan martial art, soft (Shurino-te) and hard (Nahano-te), Dr. Chitose developed Chito-Ryu based on the knowledge of human anatomy & physiology.

The Chito-Ryu philosophy (showa) is:

but in the perfection of
the character of
its participants."

The goal of the East Hants Karate Club is to encourage our members to reach their potential as individuals, to develop life skills which can be used inside & outside of the dojo, to meet daily challenges with self-confidence and respect for others.  Established in 1976, the East Hants Karate Club is the oldest Karate Club in the Municipality of East Hants.
